One of the main goals of the Washington State Genealogical Society is to support local societies. We can do that by acting as an information clearinghouse, providing financial assistance, recognizing local volunteers and offering other supports.
Financial Assistance
Washington State Genealogical Society recognizes we all need a helping hand sometimes. We currently offer two financial assistance programs: the Education Assistance Fund and the Supportive Grant Program.
Educational Assistance Fund
The WSGS Education Assistance Fund (EAF) was created in 2015. The fund is designed to support WSGS-member societies’ abilities to provide quality genealogical educational events such as conferences, workshops, seminars, and programs for their members and the public. Financial support, up to $500, is available for each funded project. The number of EAF awards is limited to available funding.
The EAF is a perpetual revolving fund underwritten by WSGS. The EAF was created so that any WSGS member society could take advantage of this offer of financial assistance for an educational event in the future.
Supportive Grant Program -- deadline July 1, 2026
WSGS created the WSGS Supportive Grant Program in 2015 (formerly known as the Innovative Grant program). The grants, up to $250 each, are designed to support the inventive and creative efforts of WSGS-member societies and organizations or fill a society-identified need. Up to two grants may be awarded annually.
