DNA

Greetings!

Just a reminder of the meeting this Saturday, July 23, at the GFO Library (Ford Building basement, 11th and SE Division) for the Advance DNA class. The class runs from 9am until noon.

There has been a lot going on in the genetic genealogy world lately with all the companies making some recent changes. Due to the updates there will be a short discussion on the recent changes at 23andMe and Family Tree DNA with Family Finder. After that there will be a presentation by Tim Janzen on managing an autosomal match list and all that entails.

Of course, we’ll save time for questions.

Please remember to download and bring with you the handouts from the GFO website for the class.

Best wishes,
Emily Aulicino

It’s the “got Germans?” Campaign…

GermanMap

Maybe you’ve heard the news?? The GFO needs YOUR HELP in our efforts to purchase the entire set of Map Guides to German Parish Registers.
Currently the GFO holds 8 volumes of this wonderful 55-volume resource, and we’ve already received just over 70% of the $1,400.00 needed to make the full purchase.

If you’d like to assist in helping us gather the last 30% of the funds for this invaluable collection, please send your contributions to:

GFO – Got Germans?
2505 SE 11th Ave, Ste. B-18
Portland, OR 97202-1061

OR…you can make a donation via PayPal by selecting “Send money to friends and family” and using the email address: payments@gfo.org. In the note field, please add: “got Germans?” so we’ll know where to apply the donation.

The GFO will provide lemonade and iced tea, and we plan to eat around 1 pm.

Things to know: No smoking or use of tobacco in any form, or alcoholic beverages are allowed in the park.

More information will be provided closer to the event. Dancers in tutus are still being negotiated.
