I’ve “rescued” a large group of items belonging to the family of Peter & Hilda PETERSON and their extended family including the following items and wish to return same to family:
1 – large velvet covered photograph album including 64 photographs and other
items
2 – 57 letters, cards, announcements, and postcards to and from Hilda Maria ANDERSON PETERSON and family and friends dating back into the 1880’s
3 – 27 loose photographs taken at studios in Seattle, WA; Spokane, WA; and Bellingham, WA of family members
The couple had a daughter Olga M. PETERSON born in the 1890’s. Family names throughout include PETERSON, ANDERSON, REESE, OLSSON, LINDEN, NEWMAN, MACKINNON, BARNES, SLATTERY, SMITH, HANSON, BOMAN, OLSON, PAULSEN, SKOUG, THEBERATH, DAWSON, JOHNSON, and HEDLUND
Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family:
Peter PETERSON was b. 1853 and married Hilda M. JOHNSON (1862-1924) they had two sons, Hjalmer PETERSON (died 1969) and Victor Carl PETERSON (1893-1980) Peter died in 1921 and is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Seattle, WA. Hilda Maria JOHNSON PETERSON was b. 5 Dec 1861 in Ransater, Varmland, Sweden to parents Anders JONSSON (1831-1919) and Maria Kajsa NILSDOTTER (1837-1918). Hilda was one of 11 children born to this couple including, Betty ANDERSON OLSON (1858-1940); John ANDERSON (1859-1933); Hilda Maria; Anna ANDERSON SKOOG (1864-1925); Carolina ANDERSON HOLMBERG (1866-1946); Olof August ANDERSON (1868-1917); Emma KRISTINA ANDERSDOTTER (1871-1880); Otto ANDERSSON (1873-1880); Anton Nathanael JONSSON (1875-1880); Nils Viktor ANDERSSON (b, 1879); and Emma Elvina ANDERSDOTTER OLSSON (1883-1924).
The usual Swedish naming conventions are the reason that Hilda was sometimes addressed as Hilda ANDERSON (meaning her father was Anders) and sometimes with JOHNSON which was the modification of her father’s surname. Hilda died November 1924 and is buried in the same cemetery in Seattle along with her
husband. Their son Hjalmer Ludwig PETERSON was b. 23 Oct 1899 in Enumclaw, WA. Hjalmar was one of 4 children born to this couple including, Olga Marie; Victor Carl; Edith; and Hjalmar Ludwig PETERSON, all born between 1891 and 1899. Hjalmar married Lula Belle GOSS (1899-1973) and he died 5 Feb 1969 in Bellingham, WA.
