Good afternoon,
In my attempt to locate more information about Verda Romayne Guenzi, I have found her obituary today. The purpose of my inquiry is based on an old Burien Art Gallery program from 1976.
My uncle Robert DeZordo was an artist who spent most of his life in Des Moines, WA. I now possess many pieces of his artwork and have some which have no identification as to who the individuals might be. In this program from 1976, among the 30 paintings listed is one entitled “Mrs. Verda Hansberry”. It is also the only one listed as NSF (Not For Sale). In Mrs. Hansberry’s obituary, it mentioned that her husband was in the Army. My uncle served in the Army during WWII as well. I have to wonder if they may have known each other in past decades.
I am trying to find some pictures of Verda that might be from the 1940’s or 1950’s in order to compare to any sketches or finished painting that I have to her image as a young woman. I’ve tried to locate the books that she published on her family in hopes of finding older photos of her. Do you have these at your location in downtown Seattle?
Thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.
