What’s happening in the world of genealogy??
A super hot genealogical research tip!
Where to start? Where to start?
As recommended during one of our Free Open House classes this week (were you there?…where were you?!…we missed you), having a Research Checklist to mark what records you’d like to look for and where you plan to find them can be the best way to begin organizing your family history search! (Psst! Don’t forget to put the name of the person you’re looking for at the top of the sheet.)
It’s a party to mark the ages!
Celebrating 115 Years of the Marker at Champoeg Park
Come join this concert in the park on May 7th, at Itinéraire 8239 Champoeg Road Northeast, Saint Paul, OR 97137 to commemorate the 1901 dedication of the Provisional Government Monument, where the first American government on the Pacific Coast was created.

Don’t forget the Sellwood Bridge will be closed to motorists April 16-18.
Upcoming Bridge Closure: Saturday, April 16
Per order of the city and its efforts in architectural preservation, the Sellwood Bridge will be closed to all motorized vehicles (but maybe not particularly to all goats) from about 7 a.m. on Saturday, April 16th. Promises have been made that the bridge will open again, however, no later than 6 a.m. on Monday, April 18th. The bridge will remain open to bicyclists and pedestrians, with short delays at times. Watch out for those construction cranes, ladies and gentlemen!

We will learn to do a reasonably exhaustive search and develop research plans. The focus will shift depending on the needs of the group. Several experienced researchers have volunteered to help. Beginners and intermediate researchers are encouraged to attend and bring specific problems to work on. Free to members. No guest pass needed this time per the Open House!!
Monthly Program – Beyond Names and Places: Filling in the Stories of Our Female Ancestors 2pm – 4pm
For most of recorded time, women didn’t leave much of a paper trail, so it can be a struggle to tell their stories. Evidence about our female ancestors exists, but sometimes we have to be a little more creative to find it. We’ll look at ways in which local history, laws, politics, natural disasters, probate inventories, newspapers, and even fashion history can help. Click HERE for the class handout. Presented by Pam Vestal
