CALL TO A SPECIAL VOLUNTEER NEXT WEEK!!
Could this be YOU??

The GFO’s quarterly Bulletin for September 2016 will be ready for mailing either late next week or early the following.
We need a special volunteer to please come help prepare the Bulletins for the bulk mailing.
Please note, that the person who used to take on this quarterly task (one day mid-August, mid-November, mid-February, and mid-May) is no longer available to assist. YOU (yes, you!) are needed this time please oh please, or ELSE WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MAIL THE PAPER BULLETIN COPIES FOR SEPTEMBER 2016!!

Email copies of The Bulletin will still be issued as usual. We just need a half-day or possibly a full day’s assistance with labelling the paper copies for mailing!!

If you would be available to help with this please contact Laurel at president@gfo.org.

Workshop’s Full, but Saturday’s SEMINAR STILL OPEN!

Joshua

Bigger venue equals more spots to fill…
GFO’s Fall Seminar is being held this year at TaborSpace, which affords us the luxury of having much more space available for attendees to come hear the wonderful D. Joshua Taylor.

The Seminar, featuring a plethora of topics, tips, fun and laughter, will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 15th, and will run until 4:30 p.m.

REGISTER HERE for the Seminar…not the Workshop…did we mention that the Workshop’s full, so don’t miss out on the Seminar!!

Parking

WHEN Sunday, Sept 18th, from noon until whenever you’re sick of it all!

WHERE Mt. Scott Park, Picnic Area B at SE 72nd Ave & Harold St in Portland.

HOW RSVP to picnic@gfo.org, then just put one foot in front of the other on Sept 18th, and come on out!

WHAT Iced tea and lemonade will be provided by the GFO. Please bring dishes to share, preferably filled with additional, more food-like items!!

NOTE No alcohol or smoking of any kind is permitted on the park grounds…city rules say so regarding all public parks.

Bueller…Bueller…Bueller….Hey there! Still looking for a volunteer to help with labeling.

Books2

Remember all those wonderful French-Canadian genealogy books we brought down from a very generous donor in North Portland? Well, we’re currently getting them ready for general research consumption, but WE NEED YOUR HELP again!!
We’re looking for a very special volunteer, or couple of volunteers, to help with creating and binding spine labels to a cart-full of the smaller items that came with the French-Canadian resource collection.
The tasks this project involves are especially for those who enjoy taking pride in detail-oriented, and sometimes repetitive, work that has a huge impact as to encouraging visibility and overall use of priceless resource materials.

If you’re interested in this short-term project, please contact our wonderful and lovely president, Laurel Smith, at president@gfo.org.
