Our Holiday Hours This Week… A gentle reminder that the GFO Library will be closed from 1pm today, Wednesday, November 23rd, until 9:30am on Friday, November 25th. Just think of all the fun turkey-filled stories we’ll have to swap!

GFO’s November Star

Maggie has gone far more than the extra mile with her work on our new website—hundreds of hours over the last year. She has done most of the mapping, coordinated the migration, and lent her skills in a way that will benefit all visitors to our future website. We truly couldn’t have done this without her tireless attention to detail and generous gift of time and effort.
Thank you Maggie!!

#givingTuesday, November 29th, at the GFO is around the corner!

Alcoholic beverages not included.

Join us for #givingTuesday!
Tuesday, Nov 29th, 9:30 AM – 5 PM

Come give some, or all for the really ambitious, of your day on Giving Tuesday at the GFO! Why?? Because we need your help, as the GFO is an all volunteer-run organization.
GFO’s full-day Work Party is NEXT TUESDAY, Nov 29th, with coffee, tea and pastries in the morning, followed by pizza and beverages in the afternoon.
No sign-up needed, just please come on by as and when you can! Every little bit helps, and as always, THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO!!!

Available Assignments:
Photocopying, labeling, moving boxes, eating pastries and pizza, cutting stuff, drinking coffee and chatting with friends, and some data entry.
We’re also in need of some STRONG muscular types who can help move our microfilm cabinets!

And don’t forget to grab a book to review before they all fly away…

There’s still some titles left for you, but you better be quick!!
Here’s our most current list of the books we have to be reviewed: 1. OHIO GENEALOGY RESEARCH, Genealogy at a Glance by Michael A. Ports
2. THE PEOPLE OF DERRY CITY, 1921, Extracted from the Derry Almanac and Directory by Brian Mitchell
4. THE PEOPLE OF DUBLIN, 1600 – 1799 by David Dobson
5. WHITE PENNSYLVANIA RUNAWAYS, 1763-1768 by Joseph Lee Boyle

Anyone interested in reviewing any of these books, please pick them up from the book shelf between the two offices and fill out the clipboard form. There is also a book review form on the shelf that can be used. For further information, please contact Joan Galles at

Also, if you’re currently reviewing a book, please let Joan know how it’s going and if you have questions!
