Please trudge carefully out there!

Just a friendly public service reminder to please please call before coming in to the library if there is snow or ice in the area. Even if schools are open, some of our Research Assistants, despite their other multi-faceted talents and superpowers, can’t get out even if the east side has thawed.
Call us at 503-963-1932 to double-check the GFO Library is open!

CALL FOR MORE SUPERHEROES!! (aka, volunteers)
Our annual Open House is coming up fast in March 2017, and we need YOUR HELP.

For years people have wanted to find a way to involve kids in family history. We would like to have an afternoon devoted to this on Sunday, March 26th, as part of the GFO’s Open House. Think of the Spring Break genealogical fun!! We have activities to choose from and the Sons of the American Revolution (that’s SAR to you, sonny) will bring their Revolutionary War School Trunk.

To make the magic happen, we’re looking for at least 5 volunteers who will help prepare and/or can be at the GFO to run the activities. Please contact info@gfo.org if you can help!

Oh the times are a changing…

We’re close to launching our new GFO website.
As we begin transitioning to our new and improved website, please note that you may see some unexpected behavior on our old website. Feel free to let the GFO Webmasters know if you can’t access or find the usual pages you’re looking for after several tries.

Please also note that the new website will hold the same content that you know and love from today’s gfo.org website. We just wanted to upgrade the functionality of our web services to you all. That’s all. We truly hope you enjoy!

What’s Happening this Week at the GFO?

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 17th
Genealogy Problem Solvers 9:30am – 11:30am

Join us for a monthly support group where we help each other find information about a family line. We will learn to do a reasonably exhaustive search and develop research plans. The focus will shift depending on the needs of the group. Several experienced researchers have volunteered to help. Beginners and intermediate researchers are encouraged to submit problems to work on. For more information contact Katie Daly at rainrainpdx@yahoo.com.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 18th
Library Work Party 9am – noon

There’s another work party at the GFO library today for those of you who can come. There’s lots to do and we’d love to have your help. Doors open at 9 and work usually wraps up around noon. Some people come for just an hour or so and you’re welcome to do the same. Any time you can share is valuable. Hope to see you there.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 21st
Learn & Chat 10am – noon

Join us to talk about your genealogy questions and help provide support to others. This group is facilitated by Connie Lenzen.
