Today’s Mystery is what is this??? Spotted it in the Pioneer Descendants Museum, Fiske Library building, Seattle. Any guesses? Your great-gramma perhaps used one.

String keeper?
It’s a fancy string or thread holder. In the old days prior to bags, everything was wrapped in brown paper and tied with string. This is newer though like those fancy eggs with a catch.
Don’t know the correct name, but I would call it an Egg Darner – used to put in a sock to hold it open where you are darning a hole.
