Frenchtown Rendezvous

The upcoming Frenchtown Rendezvous, this October 6, 2018, in Walla Walla, WA.

This is a great event for anyone who is interested in the history of Eastern Washington. Our program this year is of particular interest to archaeologists and geneaologists. It features a workshop on writing and publishing family history led by Christina Dubois, retired editor of Columbia Magazine of the Washington State Historical Society, and a presentation by historical archaeologist Maryanne Maddoux about the ongoing digitization of the Harriet D. Munnick Papers by the St. Paul Mission Historical Society, and her experiences as lab manager at the field school excavation of a French-Canadian homestead at Champoeg, OR.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. We’d love to see you there!

Frenchtown Historical Foundation Rendezvous

Rivers
My name is Sarah Hurlburt and I am the secretary of the Frenchtown Historical Foundation in Walla Walla, WA (frenchtownwa.org).
The Frenchtown Historic Site, which we maintain, interprets the history of a 19th-century mixed community of French Canadian and native American families in the Walla Walla valley. The site includes the original sites of the St. Rose of Lima Mission and the St. Rose Mission Cemetery, as well as a key location for the historic Battle of Walla Walla, also known as the Battle of Frenchtown.
We will be holding our annual Rendezvous on October 8, 2016, and we have some really interesting keynote speakers this year. Would you be willing to share the attached flyer with your organization, or post it on your bulletin board?
Many thanks,
Sarah Hurlburt

Frenchtown Rendezvous in Lowden, Washington

This year’s Frenchtown Rendezvous, put on by the Frenchtown Historical Foundation in Lowden, WA on September 26, is going to be a pretty neat event for people interested in family and area history. We’re setting it up as a giant share-and-tell. We’re trying to identify the history buffs and keepers of the family albums in the area and ask them to come share their knowledge and documents.
I’m attaching our flyer to this message. If you’d be interested in more information, I’d be very happy to talk to you. I’d love to circulate this information with regional historical societies, so please feel free to forward or share widely.
